| Mughal road: Drive on by Nov | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sept 25: The construction work of 84 Km historical Mughal road, at a revised cost of Rs. 639.85 crore, is in full swing of which Rs.164 crore has been incurred on it by ending August 2008 while as Rs. 102 crore are being utilized during the current fiscal. Of the total road length of 84 Km, as many as, 74 Km have been made fair weather and the work on further 10 Km would be completed by November this year. The road is expected to be thrown open to light vehicular traffic from November this year. From Baflias Poonch, out of 42 Km road length taken up for construction, so far 35 Km single lane road has been made fair weather and from Shopian side 39 Km have been made fair weather. The water bound macadamization work on 12 Kms has already been completed from Shopian side. According to Chief Engineer Mughal road project, air survey has been conducted for identifying the spots for special treatment and to speed up the work. He said construction of 428 culverts and major bridges have been envisaged in the project of these 63 culverts have been completed so far, while as the construction work on 356 culverts and 4 major bridges is apace. |
