| Core Group reviews security scenario | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 25: In view of mounting security concerns and rising incidents of infiltration from Line of Control and International Border, top security officers drawn from Army, Paramilitary Forces and Police reviewed scenario in a high level Core Group meeting here today. According to a Defence Spokesman, the Core Group Meeting was held today at the White Knight Corps in Nagrota, under the chairmanship of General Officer Commanding 16 Corps and Security Advisor Lt Gen RK Karwal. The meeting was attended by senior Civil, Police, PMF and Army Officers which included the Commissioner SB, IG Police Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IG CRPF, IG BSF and others. GOsC of various Army formations were also present during the occasion. The meeting reviewed the security situation in Jammu region in light of the forthcoming ‘Festival Season’, `Darbar move’ and `Assembly Elections’ due shortly. The Security Advisor complimented the security forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration for achieving peerless synergy, harmony and coordination amongst themselves for the common cause of handling the IS situation in Jammu region. He attributed the downward slide in terrorism to the excellent jointmanship and unity of effort with the entire security set up in the state. He further stressed on the need to maintain continuous pressure and moral ascendancy over the terrorists, who have been marginalized to a large extent. He further emphasized that coming few months are crucial and the security forces need to be extra vigilant to neutralize designs of the anti national elements. |
