| Where are Rs 1,616.47 cr: CAG asks J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 25: Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has said that the J&K government has failed to submit utilisation certificates (UCs) for over Rs 1,616.47 crores. A latest CAG report for 2008 revealed that J&K government has yet to submit 9,809 UCs to Centre for the Rs 1,61.647.12 lakh for works done till 2005-06. Giving a graphic picture of the financial drawbacks, it said that 6,065 UCs for over Rs 660.92 crores is pending from Education department for 2004-2006. Similarly, Housing and Urban development department top the chart at number two as 1,512 UCs worth over Rs 509.23 crore are pending for the same period, followed by pendancy of 390 UCs for 7.97 crore from Health & Medical Education Department, CAG said. Giving further breakup, it said that 201 UCs worth over Rs 7.11 crore are pending from Law and Justice Department followed by 451 UCs of over Rs 4.48 crore from Social Welfare Department, 161 UCs of over Rs 11.93 crore from General Administration Department (GAD), 56 UCs of over RS 9.67 crores from Tourism and 106 UCs of over Rs 105.53 crores from Art and Culture Department. Besides this, 58 UCs worth over Rs 87.02 crore are pending from Agriculture Research and Education, 236 UCs of over Rs 170.69 crore from Agriculture and Crop Husbandry Department, 103 UCs worth over Rs 16.60 crores from Industry Department, 38 UC of over Rs 10.38 crores from General Education, Rs 5.97 crores (10 UCs) and Rs 4.43 crores (168 UCs) from Youth Service and Sports and Command Area Development departments, respectively, for the same period. |
