Gadigarh youth alleges Police excesses
9/26/2008 11:25:52 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 26: Condemning the Police excesses against the members of Sikh community at Garhi Garh, Sikh United Council (SUC) has demanded immediate action against the police personnel responsible for "creating fear" among them in the area.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Convenor SUC, Kuldeep Singh said that the members of the community were in such a grave fear that their lives have turned uneasy due to brutal actions of police.
"The Police have been picking up the youth torturing them unnecessarily from last some months and as a result entire community members of Garhigarh are compelled to live uneasily," he said.
He further said that he, as a convener of the Council, has been approached by many Sikhs of the town to intervene into the matter so that the persecutions against them could be ended.
"So many people of area have been unnecessarily tortured and despite our repeated requests to higher ups, nothing has been done," he said.
