| Two cops fired as undertrial escapes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 26: Two policemen were today suspended after an undertrial prisoner escaped from their clutches in a court complex during a hearing in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul Paba, who was arrested in connection with a looting case, had appeared before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Udhampur town in police security, police said. A team of three policemen led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bishan Dass took him from Udhampur jail to CJM court without handcuffs, they said. However, during the appearance in the court, he gave them a slip and escaped, they said, adding that searches in several areas failed to trace him. Taking a serious view of the matter, Senior Superintendent of Police S Gupta suspended two constables- Sukhdev Singh and Shakeel Ahmed and sought explanation from the ASI. |
