Apni Party launches membership drive
3/20/2021 10:39:19 PM

Early Times Report

Udhampur, Mar 20: Apni Party today launched its membership drive in Udhampur district in an impressive function in which hundreds of people participated.
In a statement to the press, Manjit Singh hoped that the membership drive will strengthen the party in the mountainous district where people are still deprived of development.
The Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh said that 60% area in the district has no development nor they have proper road connectivity. The administration and the political representatives of the District have ignored the people.
“People still walk miles on foot to reach their destinations. The villages in far-flung areas of Ramnagar, Basantgarh, Dudu, Chenani and other areas have no dispensary, doctors, emergency medicines and education system,” said Manjit Singh.
“The picturesque Udhampur’s upper reaches and tourist destinations are out of sight of the tourism department. They have not created any infrastructure and in some areas, if the structures are created, they are not maintained for years leading to the crumbling situation,” said Manjit Singh.
Meanwhile, Incharge District President, and Ex-MLA Chenani Faqir Nath said that the District has huge potential to attract tourism. “We have religious sites and ancient temples, mountains with lacks but they need development,” said Nath while speaking on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, J&K Trade Union President, Ajaz Kazmi said that the issues of daily wagers in Udhampur needs to be projected from one platform and Apni Party will leave no stone unturned to redress their issues.
He appealed to the Govt to regularize the daily wagers and contractual workers in different departments. “Ignoring the contribution of these daily wagers and contractual workers will be a great injustice with them,” he said.
