| HE in town | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 26: A day after issuing formal orders on allotment of 800 kanals of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board –a main demand of the two-month long agitation –the Governor NN Vohra today arrived in the town to review the pace of life. This is first visit of the Governor in Jammu after the agitation which found him in the middle of all protests. Vohra, who arrived here this afternoon on a three-day visit, held meetings with the senior officers and stressed the need for accelerating the pace of work on various schemes, currently under execution in the division. The Governor particularly reviewed the progress on the installation of transformers at the Gladni Grid Station and the status of Sitlee Water Supply Scheme. He has been keeping track on the projects, either inspected during his visits or reviewed, to follow up the progress. Vohra was informed that work is apace on the Unit-III of the 5.4 MGD Filtration Plant under the ambitious scheme which, on completion, will augment the water supply to the entire Old Jammu City as well as a major portion falling upstream of B C Road, besides stabilizing the existing water supply of the Jammu City. The Governor had recently approved an additionality of Rs.27.26 crore for expeditious completion of this vital project. Among others who attended the meeting, included, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr B B Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr Sudhanshu Pandey, Inspector General of Police Jammu Mr K Rajendra. Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari and Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Mr Manohar Singh. The Governor held another meeting and reviewed the security scenario in the division. GOC 16 Corps, Lt General R K Karwal, GOC 9 Corps Lt General Vinay Kumar, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr B B Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr Sudhanshu Pandey, IGP Mr K Rajendra, DIGs of BSF and CRPF besides senior officers representing the Intelligence agencies participated. |
