| Relief for 4 CAPD officials | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 27: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Mr. YP Bourney today granted bail in favour of Mohd Iqbal, Jagjit Singh, Tarsem Lal, Ravinder Kumar, Som Dutt, Satish Chander, Sewa Ram and Ravi Sharma, employees of CAPD, who were arrested in alleged kerosene oil black-marketing. The cases were registered in police station Pir-Mitha Jammu and P/S Bag-e Bahu Jammu and accused were arrested by the police u/s 3/7 EC Act on November 25, 2008. According to the police report that from reliable source that all the accused along with driver and conductor of the two tankers, with common criminal intention of making the illegal profits, were selling the kerosene oil on high rates than the rate fixed by the Govt. The investigating agency swung into action and seized the tanker along with kerosene oil and arrested the accused/applicants on spot. It is mentioned in the Police report that the applicants were selling the kerosene oil @ Rs 10 per liter, however, the priced fixed by the Government was Rs 9.50. The applicants are in police custody since September 25, 2008. CJM, after hearing CPO appearing for the state and Advocates Sudershan Sharma, Ashwani Khajuria and Arvind Khajuria appearing for the applicants, observed that in the circumstances, the applicants are ordered to be released in case they furnish bail bond to the tune of Rs 10,000 and personal bond in the like amount with the direction to remain present with the Investigating Officer as and when required and not to temper with the evidence. |
