| Hoteliers meet Governor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 27: A deputation of Jammu hotel, restaurant and bar association (JHRBA) led by Kuldeep Wahi, president of the association called on the advisor to the governor C Phunsog and urged upon him to postpone recovery of taxes ie sales tax, VAT, electricity tariff, interest by banks etc from the hoteliers and restaurant owners, till the govt provides package of compensation and relief to them, as already announced. Deputation apprise the advisor that they already submitted rationally evaluated losses suffered by the trade during the two and half months of Jammu agitation with the prolonged curfews and shut downs and all the establishments remained closed, to the director tourism Jammu. He said total losses come to over 1000 crore. While it may take sometime for the government to work out the economic package to the industry and as such they are not in a position to pay taxes and installments to the banks against loans, since they have already paid the accumulated salary to their employees and incurred other incidental charges to run the hotels. Hence the dire need for deferring of recovery from them. |
