| Court granted bail to Kuldeep Singh allegedly involved in attack on Ex-DFO | | |
Jammu, September, 11:- Special Municipal Magistrate Mr. Sanjay Parihar today granted bail to local timber trader Kuldeep Singh allegedly involved in attack on Vijay Kumar Gupta a retd DFO (who was a complainant in a much publicized multicrore timber Scam) with the direction that Kuldeep Singh remain present with the investigating officer in the police station on September 12, 2006 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The bail is granted on furnishing bail bond to the tune of Rs 25,000 and Surety bond to the like amount.
Earlier when First Additional Sessions Judge had granted interim bail, Court directed the police to produced case dairy in which the police submitted on September 4, 2006 Mr. VK Gupta in a injured condition was rushed to GMC, where his statement was recorded. In his statement DFO retd submitted that Apex Court of India in 1996 has directed that no timber supply to outside the J&K state through private firms. In the last year forest dept has in connivance with private timber contractors for supply of timber crores of rupees ordered M/S Kuldeep Singh, Mustaq Ahmed and others. The complainant lodged a complaint with the crime Branch; on this complaint the Crime Branch seized 14 Wagons. Thereafter on the direction of the High Court case was transferred to CBI. After completion of the investigation CBI presented Challan in the Court of law on August 28, 2006. According to the complainant he is an important witness in that case so the contractors named to revenge and on September 4, 2006 when the complainant was on routine morning walk near Bahu Plaza, 3 youths attack on him with hockey and stick, on his cry, the people came on spot and the accused youth fled away from the scene. He alleged that this attack was conspiracy against him hatched above mentioned timber contractors. Police registered a case u/s 307/34/109/120-B RPC.
Today Kuldeep Singh alleged accused surrendered before the Court and his counsel Vishal Kapur prayed for grant of bail to the accused. Court after hearing Adv Vishal Kapur and considering the fcats oif the case granted bail to the accused on furnishing bail and surety bond to the tune of Rs 25000/- each with the direction that he will remain present in P/S on September 12 from 10:00 Am to 4 O0 PM for the investigation of the case. |
