Forthcoming elections to determine future of J&K: Khajuria
9/28/2008 10:38:14 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 28: Reflecting on the significance of forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, state BJP President Ashok Khajuria has exhorted the party activists to get ready for the electoral battle as the election schedule is expected to be announced any time.
Addressing booth committee members of the Jammu city’s three assembly constituencies here today at party headquarters, Khajuria said the forthcoming elections are very crucial as their outcome would determine the future of the state in general and people of Jammu and Ladakh in particular and stressed the need for ensuring a massive victory for the BJP so that it becomes the most important factor in the state assembly.
Khajuria asked the booth committee members to fan out all across the Jammu city and educate the public about the dubious role played by the Congress, NC, PDP and JKNPP during the Amarnath land row, as also the adverse impact on the Jammu’s polity and economy of the valley-centric policies implemented by the Congress-PDP government. He said the defeat of these forces has become the national requirement considering their divisive designs and soft approach towards terrorism, separatism and communalism.
The BJP chief also demanded recall of the State Governor N. N. Vohra saying he is not only facilitating the cross LoC trade to appease the Kashmiri separatists, but also giving full support to out of power Congress party and the former Chief Minister so that they could manipulate election results in favour of the otherwise thoroughly unpopular Congress party. He accused the State Governor of abdicating his authority in favour of the former Chief Minister, who, along with several former Congress ministers, is inspecting the ongoing projects in Jammu province and issuing instructions to the concerned officials. He asked the Governor under which capacity the former CM is doing all this? He expressed full confidence in the party cadres and said the party has no doubt that they would establish close contacts with the people and expose all those parties which have not only outraged the Jammu sentiments but also betrayed the people from time to time to please their Kashmiri masters.
