| NC demands up gradation of GMC as AIIMS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 28: The National Conference leader have demanded up- gradation of Jammu Medical College as All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi as was promised by the then BJP led NDA government as also as the UPA. They regretted that it was unfortunate that both BJP and Congress has ditched the people of Jammu and instead of making the Jammu Medical College up to the level of AIIMS it has been simply upgraded which is wastage of money. They said Jammu region has no such institute and it is the need of the hour that Governor should take initiative to have a Medical Institute in Jammu as it was already proposed at Sidhra for which land has also been identified. Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President J&K National Conference, Jammu province and Devender Singh Rana, Member Legislative Council who met the Governor here today hoped that the Governor would take initiative in this behalf. The NC leaders apprised the Governor about the non-availability of essential commodities in the hilly and remote areas of Jammu region and emphasized upon the need to ensure proper supply of essential commodities to the hilly and remote areas of Jammu region and even to other areas of Jammu. They also called upon him to take effective measures to make all out efforts to store ration for winter season in higher reaches also. They also stressed the need of frequent interaction with the people form top to bottom level i.e. from Governor’s levels to Tehsildar and Niab-Tehsildar level, so that there is no space of alienation among common masses. They urged the Governor to take measures to satisfy genuine urges and aspirations of all the sections, so that an atmosphere of peace and tranquility is strengthened and also pleaded for constitution of advisory councils at the divisional level to address the problems of the people. |
