Early Times Report

POONCH, Mar 30: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Indeer Jeet today directed health authorities to take action against the staff found absent from duty during late night inspection of the Health Institutions. Teams of District administration Poonch conducted late night surprise inspection to take stock of patient care, presence of staff and cleanliness in the health institutions of the district.
On the direction of Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet, the teams led by senior officers conducted surprise inspection of District Hospital, Sub District Hospitals and PHCs.
The District Hospital was inspected by Additional Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner (R). During the checking, all the Doctors and Para Medical Staff were found present on duty as per roaster. However the team found lack of cleanliness and asked the Medical Superintendent to take concrete measures to improve the same.
In other parts of the District, the inspections were carried out by SDMs, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars in their respective Jurisdictions.
The SDM Mendhar carried out inspection of SDH Mendhar; PHC Mankote; PHC Chattral and PHC Harni. In SDH Mendhar and PHC Mankote some of the staff members were found absent, while PHC Harni and Chattral were found Locked.
Tehsildar Mandi inspected SDH Mandi and PHCs Loran and Sawajian and reported absence of majority of staff.
Similarly, majority of staff was found absent during the inspection of Community Health Centre Surankote, PHC Lassana and PHC Marhote, PHC Buffliaz, PHC Bhatadhurian, PHC Chandak and PHC Ajote.
The Deputy Commissioner took serious view of the mass absenteeism/malfunctioning of Health institutions which are otherwise supposed to function round the clock. The DC noted that it shows failure on the part of controlling Officers i.e CMO Poonch and BMOs Mandi/Mendhar/Surankote in ensuring proper functioning of the Health institutions.
He ordered action as warranted under Law against the absentees and the Controlling Officers.
He said that a proper system of regular monitoring and supervision will be put in place to curb absenteeism in all Government Offices.
