Vijay Saraf resigns from Amar Singh Club Jammu
‘Rigging in club polls, counting has hurt me, can’t continue’

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 30: Officiating secretary of Amar Singh Club Jammu, Vijay Saraf, on Tuesday tendered his resignation from the post.
In a resignation letter addressed to the vice-president of the Club, Saraf wrote: “Sir, you are aware that after the expiry of the term of the present executive committee, as per the constitution of the Club I was looking after the affairs of the Club.
My duties included to conduct AGMs and elections to the executive committee 2021-2023 as officiating secretary.
I was associated with the club as the secretary for last two consecutive terms, and have made immense contributions towards the development of this club with full dedication and sincerity. I am emotionally attached with Amar Singh Club.” “I was very hurt with what happened during the polling day in the Club as well during the counting process on March 28 and 29.
I had never expected people deputed for counting will resort to rigging as they are the members of our own club. All the members are well educated and are from our dignified society. They resorting to unethical practices against the rules and regulations of the Club has shattered me as it has never happened before,” the letter states. “Regarding this you may have been briefed by our respected Returning Officer and I must admit herein that Vinod Sharma, the Returning Officer nominated by the Hon’ble Court of Law has a long experience. He has remained secretary of both clubs Jammu Club & Amar Singh Club.
He was fair enough and made all efforts to conduct the election process ethically as per the constitution but some contestants and their supporters disturbed the counting process and used abusive and offensive language against the election committee,” the letter states.
“Owing to the above mentioned circumstances, it will be very difficult for me to continue as the officiating secretary of the Club and therefore I submit my resignation. I would be grateful if you kindly accept the same and make some alternate arrangements,” the letter states.
