| Stop Bangladeshi infiltrators, says Advani | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT GUWAHATI, Sept 28: Alleging Pakistan's ISI for causing threat to the national security, BJP leader L K Advani today said the Illegal Bangladeshi migrants sent by the ISI should be stopped to enter the country. "The infiltrators come to the north eastern region at the initiative of the ISI. The NDA was conscious of unabated Bangladeshi illegal migration troubling the people in the region", said BJP's prime ministerial candidate while addressing a rally here. Advani also said that the explosive used in yesterday's blast in the national capital was brought from Bangladesh. "The bomb used in yesterday's Delhi blast was different from the ones used in the earlier blasts. This bomb was sent from Bangladesh. The infiltrators are not only a threat to Assam's identity but to the country's security", he said. He, however, assured the safety of Muslims in Assam. "I want to assure the Muslims of Assam that they are safe and will not be troubled. We are only for completely halting infiltration and sending the illegal migrants back to Bangladesh", Advani said. Calling for a multi-purpose identity card to be issued to the citizens and a National Register of Citizens (NRC), the former home minister said, the I-card process started by NDA government was stopped by the UPA Government. Advani said the NDA, if voted to power, would set up a separate department for religious pilgrimage benefiting people of all religions. He also said that besides infiltration another problem nagging the state was erosion of the world's largest river island Majuli. "We tried to get it declared as a world heritage site for its protection but the UPA government failed to get the island in the UNO list". |
