| Don’t allow breach of LoC | | | | This is beyond any grain of doubt that militancy in Jammu and Kashmir is unleashed, aided and abetted by Pakistan. India has been fighting a tough war fomented by Pakistan at least for past two decades. But this does not mean that we should not take precautionary measures to push the Pakistani trained ultras when they make an attempt to sneak in. Every time when militants are seen somewhere or when they strike somewhere, our security agencies take on them to defeat their design. Our valiant soldiers have the trainings and tendencies of fighting to the finish. Hundreds of them have offered their supreme sacrifices to ensure security of common citizens and uphold the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. In the aftermath of such operations, the political leadership and society at large criticize Pakistan for fanning trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. The matter can not be settled by just asking Pakistan to stop aiding terrorism and use of its soil for terror activities. Whether Pakistan responds to our peace urges or not, we should always be in a state of preparedness to counter the menace of militancy. The first point of countering militancy is at the Line of Control and International Border. Militants can strike in the interiors on unsuspecting civilians or the security forces only when they make their way well into the Indian Territory through the boundary. If our gates and walls are strong and secure enough no one can intrude into our houses to disturb peace. This realization is nothing new. Indian establishment has always seen making borders well guarded and protected as a topmost priority in countering terror. It was under this realization that hundreds and thousands of crores of rupees have been spent on protection of borders and thousands of troops have been stationed on the guard duty. With a particular emphasis on maintaining a fool proof security on the borders, a well worked out plan of fencing and lighting has been underway for past nearly one and half decade. Despite this huge expenditure and enormous presence of solders along the dividing line, militants still manage to sneak in. This aspect of security has to be looked into. Recently ten members of three families from other side of the divide made their way ten kilometers deep into the Indian side after crossing Line of Control in Kupwara sector. This infiltration was apparently by accident and aided by the Pakistan Army under fire cover as it happens when militants sneak in. The members of these families were unarmed and they were not aware of the fact that they have crossed the line of division. If a group of unarmed people can cross the Line of Control just imagine how easy it could be for militants to sneak. An inquiry into this incident has been ordered by the Home Ministry. While Army must explain this lapse, care should be taken that LoC is not allowed to be breached in any case. |
