LeT Militant killed, PDP worker, two soldiers injured

SRINAGAR, SEPT 11: A Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in encounter at Bandipora in North Kashmir while as People’s Democratic Party (PDP) worker was shot at and critically wounded in Bijbehara in South Kashmiron intervening night of 10 and 11 Sept whereas two soldiers were critically injured in militant attack at Nattnusa in the North Kashmir, police and reports said Monday.
According to the reports reaching here, a LET militant was killed by paramilitary BSF troops at Nehru Park late last night, official sources said. Border Security Forces (BSF) troops ambushed waterpoint in Nehru Park at Bandipora last night following specific information that militants were to pass from the area, BSF officials said on Monday. Noticing the movement of militant, BSF personnel challenged him but the militant opened fire, they said adding he was killed in retaliatory fire. One pistol and two rounds were recovered from him, they added.
In other incident, suspected militants shot at and critically injured Ghulam Mohammad Ganaie (60) son of Abdul Rehman Ganie, a PDP worker, at Hassanpora in Bijbehara town in south Kashmir late Sunday night. Reports said that suspected militants barged inside his house and opened volley of bullets at him, injuring him critically. Ganie was removed to hospital by his relations reports said adding that his condition is stated to be critical.
Reports further said that militants attacked a group of troopers, planning an ambush, at Nattnusa Kandi in frontier district Kupwara and opened fire at them, injuring two troopers from 47 Rashtriya Riffle critically. Hemant Kumar Juneja while confirming the incident said, “Two jawans were injured in the militants attack”, he said adding “militants managed to flee”. The injured have been hospitalized.
However, in a nearby area the army uncovered a militant hide-out and seized a large arms cache, including grenade launchers and rockets, 19 kilograms (42 pounds) of high-grade explosives, and remote detonators and timers, Juneja said.
Reports from Jammu said that a huge cache of Arms and ammunition were recovered, police said Arms and ammunition along with 35 kilograms of Research and Development Explosive (RDX) were recovered by troops in Jammu's Rajouri and Poonch districts over the weekend. The Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the police raided the militant hideout in Rajouri's Thanamandi area. Besides the RDX, nine Chinese grenades, 220 rounds of AK ammunition, four IED switches, five and a half meters of cordex wire, one radio set and 20 dura cells were recovered. In Mendhar, Poonch, ten UBGL grenades, three hand grenades one anti-personnel mine, 348 rounds of AK ammunition and one AK magazine were also recovered.
