| Center launches new credit policy for unemployed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 29: The government of India has approved a new credit linked subsidy program called prime minister’s employment generation program (PREGP) by merging the two schemes that were in operation till March 31 namely Prime Minister’s Rojgar Yojna (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation of employment opportunities through establishment of micro enterprises in rural as well as urban areas. PMEGP will be a central govt. scheme will be central govt. scheme to be implemented by Khadhi and Village Industries commission (KVIC), as statuary organization under the administrative control of the ministry of MSME as the single Nodal Agency at the National level. At the state level, the scheme will be implemented through state KVIC directorates/offices. J&K state, Khadi & Village Industries Commission in providing funds and other assistance to J&K Khadi & village industries board for promoting PMEGP and other programs in rural areas only. The ministry is also providing funds to District Industry Fund to the District Industry centres (DICs) throughout the state for setting up industries under PMEGP in urban areas only. The state office of Khadi & village industries commission will be responsible for monitoring the activities of Khadi & village industry board in the state as far as KVIC programs are concerned. |
