Militants lost 26 top commanders

JAMMU, Sept 29: Militants leaders was dealt with severe blow this year as the Jammu and Kashmir Police in various joint operations with Army and other paramilitary forces has killed 16 top commander –foreigners and locals –of various outfits since January this year.
This was revealed by the Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda during his meetings with Police cadres in Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts today.
Referring to the success in combating militancy on ground, the Director General of Police said that since January this year, 26 top foreign and local militants were eliminated in militancy operations conduced jointly by Police, Army and CRPF in various parts of valley and Jammu in the state. He said 10 top foreign mercenaries belongs to various outfits like LeT, Al-Badr, and JeM were eliminated till 23rd September. Besides 16 top local self styled commanders of various outfits viz HUJI, HM, LeT and Al-Badr were killed in different operations till 9th August this year. He said people of all walks of life have appreciated the role of police during these anti-militancy operations carried out in various parts of the state in a surgical manner adding collateral damages have been minimum while executing these operations.
Police has always shown its mettle in difficult situations and hoped that in future too it would also prove effective in tackling any situation. He stressed for greater coordination among all the security agencies at various levels to achieve better results. He reiterated that JKP is determined to tackle militancy firmly and maintain law and order at all levels across the state. He said the role of police in modern times has diversified and the expectations of public are very high. He added that the force is well equipped with the requisite legal knowledge, besides professional and social skills to fulfill the expectation of common citizens.
Khoda said Jammu and Kashmir Police has attained highest degree of professionalism in dealing with volatile situations created by various faces of terrorism and violence over the years. He said that though incidents of violence have come down to a large extent, yet, we have not to allow keep any loophole unplugged. He asked all ranks to put in head and heart for better excellence and render their duty as best as possible.
Addressing the Darbars of Jawans at these District Headquarters, the Director General of Police said that there was a long felt need for creation of new posts in various wings of the Organization and recent decision of the State Administrative Council to make available additional 1433 posts in Traffic and 2625 in Railways would streamline the day-to-day working of these wings. He said this would also provide employment opportunities to the un-employed youth besides opening of promotion prospects in a bigway for inservce jawans and officers of the department.
On the occasion, for best performance, good work and professional policing during the past nine months in their jurisdictions, Mr. Khoda sanctioned cash reward of Rs.73 lakhs for the jawans of three districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
Regarding promotions of jawans and officers, the Director General of Police said that since July 2007 till date, 1902 promotions in various cadres were ordered in favour of 117 Inspectors, 110 Sub Inspectors, 401 ASI, 657 HC and 617 Sgcts against higher ranks. He said since July 2007 till date, 102 out of turn promotions of Districts Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban were ordered in favour of 04 Inspectors, 05 Sub Inspectors, 02 ASIs, 15 HCs and 76 Sgcts. while as 34 cases are under process.
During the tour, among others the Director General of Police was accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mr, K. Rajendra, Depuy Inspector General of Police Doda Range, Mr. H.K. Lohia, SSP Doda, Mr. Prabat Singh, SP. Kishtwr M. Hseeb Mugal and S.P. Ramban, Mr. Sunil Dutt.
