GDC Khour organizes Extension Lecture

Jammu, Apr 7: Govt. Degree College Khour today on 7th of April 2021, organizes an extension lecture on “Feminism in Western World and Third World in Cultural Context : Feminism vs Womanhood” by Dr. Anju Bala, Associate Professor in English, GCW Parade.
She deliberated on the topic, Place of woman in society especially in reference to “Two Worlds” in cultural context. She also talked about the influence of Western Culture on “New Woman” by referring to ‘Purdah’ and ‘The Liberation of Sita’. Woman should not blindly follow the Western thinkers but should keep the ancient traditions alive. She said that Western Feminism on the Indian mindset is alarming and more deadlier than colonization. Women should not talk about being equal or unequal to men but make efforts to bring togetherness. She concluded her lecture by a famous quote “The flags of a country will not fly high where women are doomed”.
Prof. Hans Raj, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts made by the Department of English and encouraged the staff to do such activities in future also.
The lecture was successfully concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sonia Sharma, Head of Department of English.
