4/9/2021 12:55:57 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 8: All J&K Transport Welfare Association J&K (UT) expressed gratitude to the Central Govt and Govt of J&K for Voluntary Vehicles Scrapping Policy.
Addressing a press conference here today, STS Wazir, Chairman, All J&K Transport Welfare Association J&K (UT) along with Presidents of All Commercial Transport Association said that the Voluntary Vehicles Scrapping Policy announced during Budget Session 2021-22 has the provision of rebate of 5% on purchase of new vehicle in lieu of scrapping the vehicle which is a welcome step.
Wazir said the transporters of J&K thank government for the decision but State / UT Govt also may be advised to offer Road Tax rebate upto 25% and 15% for Personal & Commercial vehicles, in addition Registration Fees may also be waived.
He said that UT Govt of J&K also announced various Schemes/Policies for the interest of transporters which include Megha Economic Package to the Transporters of J&K due to COV1D-19, Transport Subsidy Scheme for replacement of 15 years old vehicles, implementation of Online System in J&K (UT) and Revision in Passenger Fare.
We hope that Transport Sector will get sign of relief but there are some issues which are pending till now as Waiving Off Token Tax/ Passenger Tax/Penalty on Registration for Fresh Vehicle for the period of one year due to COVID-19 like our neighbour State Punjab Waiving Off all Taxes/Fees for the period of one year.
