| DGP asks police to remain vigilant to thwart militant designs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 30: Jammu and Kahsmir Director General of Police (DGP), today asked police force to remain vigilant enough to thwart any militant designs. Though militancy have come down to a large extent, yet, we should remain vigilant enough to thwart any militant designs, DGP Kuldeep Khoda said here today during a security review meeting with the officials. Khoda stressed for greater coordination among all the security agencies at various levels to achieve better results. The role of police in modern times has diversified and the expectations of public are very high, he said adding that the force is well equipped with the requisite legal knowledge, besides professional and social skills to fulfil the expectations of common citizens. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir police is determined to tackle militancy firmly and maintain law and order at all levels across the state. Referring to the success in combating militancy on ground, the DGP said that since January last, 26 top foreign and local militants were eliminated in militancy operations Conducted jointly by police, army and CRPF in various parts of The state. Khoda said top 10 foreign mercenaries belonging to various outfits like Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT), Al-Badr and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were eliminated till September 23. Besides 16 top local self-styled commanders of various outfits viz Harket-Ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), LeT and Al-Badr were killed in different operations |
