| Reena of GCW Parade bags Cross Country gold | | Inter-college competitions of JU | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 30: Reena of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar bagged the gold medal in Inter-College Cross Country competitions organized by Department of Physical Education at University of Jammu, here today. However, she took two minutes and 58 seconds more time from last year’s winner, Reema Chitra by finishing the six-kilometer run in 29:58 minutes. Second place again went to GCW Parade when Kajal Rani clinched the silver clocking in 30:21.20 minutes. The last year’s runners-up and short distance athlete, Heena Khan of GCW Gandhi Nagar remained at No. three position completing the distance in 32:58 minutes. Heena took two-minute and 10 seconds of more time to complete the distance this time. In all, 12 girls took part in the Cross Country event representing five colleges of GCW Parade (three), GCW Gandhi Nagar (three), GCW Kathua (three), GCW Udhampur (three) and Degree College Kathua (one). After the Cross Country events, the Department of Physical Education is organizing inter-college women football competitions starting from October 13 at University ground, here. “The next event of this year’s inter-college competitions is women football. The event is scheduled to be held from October 13 to October 15 at University grounds,” Assistant Director, Physical Education, Dr Soman Angchuk told SAN. As per the fixture, in the process of being finalized, the inter-college table tennis (men and women) competitions shall take place from October 13 to October 17 at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu. |
