| Pahari musical film "Mehndi Laan de' released | | |
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11 - The first ever Pahari musical film "Mehndi Laan de' was launched here yesterday.
Minister for Health and medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma and Ex Chief Minister J&K, Dr. Farooq Abdullah were chief guests on the occasion.
The musical film depicting rich cultural heritage of the state has been directed by Mr. Shiv Dutt Sharma.
Appreciating the film, Mr. Sharma said that such films familiarize us with our forgotten cultural heritage. He said moreover these ethnic films acquaint the young with the glory of rich culture of different regions of the state. Mr. Sharma reminded that the state government had already recommended to the Centre to include Pahari in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution. He said that Pahari was not a regional but an international language as large number of Pahari speaking people from this side and other side of border have settled in Europe and United Kingdom.
Asserting that the local artists of the state are second to none and possess immense potential so as to compete at higher foras, Mr. Sharma said that the local artists should be given chance to prove their worth in home productions which would not only provide opportunity to them to exhibit their talent but also help reduce unemployment problem. He asked Cultural Academy, industrialists and other sponsors to render financial help to local directors- producers.
Dr. Abdullah stressed the need of making such tele-films in other languages with an aim to highlight culture of all ethnic and languagistic groups. He asked the state government to encourage such producers who have been highlighting culture of ethnic groups. |
