| Contractors slam admin for denying tender process at panchayat level | | |

KISHTWAR, Apr 11: Contractors Association Kishtwar today lamented that the office of the Executive Engineer (REW) Kishtwar while inviting panchayat wise tenders has mentioned that only the eligible contractor of respective Panchayats shall take part in the tendering process which is injustice with the contractor community.
Speaking to Early Times, Govt Contractor Shakir Sadiqqui said that every registered contractor must be allowed in all panchayats to participate in tendering process so that the contractors face competition from in and outside of the panchayat and the lowest bidder get a chance to work. Another contractor Naseer Baghwan said that it was a hope for the contractors fraternity of Kishtwar district that the e-tendering was invited on behalf of the Lt Governor of J&K so that many small contractors who had been deprived from their livelihood could get a chance for survival, but once again the policy adopted by the REW Department Kishtwar had put their future's sustainability at dark.
Both appealed to the Lt Governor to open this tender for all the contractors without mentioning the condition of only respective panchayat contractors shall take part in tendering process since same will minimize the chances of corruption being alleged in the department for which several people in past has raised their voices. |
