Srinagar, Apr 11: Two terrorists involved in the killing of Territorial Army havaldar Mohammad Saleem Akhoon have been gunned down by security forces in a joint operation in Jammu and Kashmir. A pair of AK-47 have been recovered from their possession.
Akhoon, an Indian Army jawan, who was visiting his home, was shot dead by terrorists in the Anantnag district on Friday.
The 35-year-old Territorial Army soldier was killed at his residence in the Jabli Pora village of Anantnag’s Bijbehara Tehsil, an army official informed.
He was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead, the official further said. According to sources, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists are believed to be responsible for the attack.
“He was on leave when two local terrorists, suspected to be from LeT, came to his house and shot him. The soldier was rushed to hospital Bijbehara from where he was referred to GMC Srinagar, however, he was declared brought dead at GMC,” sources said
