| State mountaineer to attend river rafting course | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 1: Sumit Khajuria, an active member of the Tawi Trekkers and a senior mountaineer today left for Kullu in Himachal Pradesh to undergo a 10-day basic river rafting course. Sumit has been nominated for the rare water sports programme by the Tawi Trekkers. The course is being conducted at Pridi (Kullu) by Atal Bheari Bajpai Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali. “Encouraged by the magnificent success of our members in the field of mountaineering and sport climbing, the Tawi Trekkers, J&K have included water sports in its future activities,” general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria told SAN. The major success of Tawi Trekkers members includes, Ram Singh, who climbed Mount Everest and Shivani Raj Kaith, the National Champion in sport climbing. “Tawi Trekkers would also explore the possibilities of conducting such basic river rafting courses in J&K in near future,” informed Khajuria. |
