| Guv expected to attend Dussehra celebrations at Jammu | | Navratra special service to Purmandal, Chichi mata | | JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11 -Governor Lt General (Retd) S.K. Sinha is likely to participate in the Dussehra celebrations in the winter capital at Parade, the main venue for the festivities. Various religious organizations, particularly, the Sanatan Dharma Samba and Dharmarth Trust have requested the Governor to grace this year's Dussehra merriment at old Jammu city. Informing the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh about their initiative at a joint meeting of senior officers and heads of various religious organizations, here today, details deliberations were also held on finalizing the arrangements for the forthcoming Navratras and Dussehra. The meeting, which among others, was attended by Joint Director Information Mr. S.K. Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Mr. I.A. Zargar and Mr. B.S. Jamwal, R.T.O Jammu Mr. S.C. Sawhney and S.D.M. Samba Mr. R.K. Gupta discussed at length the security, water, power, medical, transportation, sanitation and other necessary arrangements at the main venues of the twin festival of Dussehra and Navratras. The Deputy Commissioner, who instructed for uninterrupted supply of power and water to people during the Navratras and on Dussehra, said that the continuous supply of these necessaries be also assured by the respective departments at Bahu Fort, the focal point of Navratra celebrations. He said that Bahu Fort would be witnessing huge influx of devotees from across the state during Navratras, where religious carousing would reach its spiritual and jovial zenith with Jagratras offering to the revered Mata. Mr. Singh said that owing to the influx of large number of pilgrims to the state from across the country especially during Navratras, the administration would be operating special matador service to holy Purmandal and Utterbehni. He said that Jammu bound buses from Kathua too have been directed to make a mandatory halt at revered shrine of Chi-Chi Mata. Notifying Parade in old Jammu City and Government (Boys) Higher Secondary School play field at Gandhinagar as main venues of Dussehra celebrations, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Jhankies procession in the old City would be taken out on October 2. Secretary Dharmarth Trust Ms. Vijay Gandotra impressed for uninterrupted supply of water and power during the festive days. President Laxminarayan Temple Mr. R.K. Gupta, Mr. S.P. Arora and Mr. Khem Raj Sharma were also present in the deliberations. |
