| A reunion for divided families | | | DEVINDER SINGH POONCH, Oct 1: In this border township, the main attraction of Eid-ul-Fitr festival was the participation of the people of divided families from across Line of Control. Since 67 percent families of Poonch district are having their nearest relations, kith - kins on, other side of LoC in Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK), therefore after the weekly bus service hundreds of PaK nationals have started visiting this side to meet their nearest relatives. Today a number of families from PaK celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on this side in their original houses and villages. Another important event on Eid-ul-Fitr festival at Poonch 'Was the exchange ,of sweets at Chakkan Da Bagh Tetrinote zero point by the any contingents of India and Pakistan. At about 10.30 am a contingent of Indian forces along with media persons rush towards zero. point under the leadership of Colonol Manish Yadav while on the other side' Colonel Asad of Pak Battalilon posted at Tetrinote along with number of officers was waiting to welcome Col. Manisih Yadav on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. The gate was opened at 10.45 am both the officers shook hands, congratulate each other on Eid-ul-Fitr and, exchange sweets and goodwill. While talking to media persons Col Asad of Pak forces said that they too want peace on LoC and good relation with India. He said that the impact of cross LoC bus service is visible on the people In PA.K. Col Asad welcomed the trade relations to be started from 21St October. 2008. Despite the number of ceasefire violations on LoC at Krishna Ghati sector, Sari post in Poonch sector the meeting of two officers at the occasion of Eid UI Fitr is considered as a goodwill gesture and confidence and trust on each other. |
