GSS celebrate Gandhi’s birthday

POONCH, Oct 4: In celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, Gandhi Seva Sadan (GSS) Mendhar organized a colourful functions at Boys Higher Secondary School Mendhar today under the presidentship of General Secretary Pradesh Youth Congress, Ch. Imran Zaffar, while T.K Bhat – SDM Mendhar was the chief guest and Col. Inderjeet Singh Guest of Honour. Speaking on the occasion paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi for preaching non-violence for strengthening of nation and secular forces.
Zaffar in his speech asked the young generation to follow the foot print of Mahatma Gandhi and maintain communal harmony and traditional brotherhood at any cost. He appreciated the people of Poonch who despite provocation maintained communal harmony during recent agitation. He said it is due to the initiative and united efforts taken by Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the United Nations passed a resolution on July 15, 2007 declaring 2nd October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi , as the International Day of Non-violence.
