10/4/2008 11:12:25 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
BHADERWAH, Oct 4: As a part of its program to organize constituency level rallies, the state unit of BJP today organized a largely attended Swabhimaan Rally at Bhaderwah, which was addressed by former State President Daya Krishan Kotwal, State Vice-President Thakur Ranjit Singh and State General Secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas.
Appreciated the role of the Hindus, Muslims and others during the 61-day long agitation in Jammu region, Kotwal said this agitation witnessed full participation of people from all religions and castes and set an example of communal harmony. He took the previous Congress-PDP coalition to task for making high claims of bringing record funds from the centre and spending on developmental activities. He said this government only misled the masses on heart pleasing slogans like-work culture, transparency, accountability, eradicating corruption but the ground realities are known to all.
Thakur Ranjit Singh, on this occasion, reiterated party’s demand of political empowerment of Jammu region adding that if delimitation is undertaken impartially, the assembly seats in Jammu region will increase and the people of Jammu will have more say. He said the BJP stands for equal treatment to all the three regions of the state in matters of allocation of funds and developmental activities.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, in his address, said that the elected representatives of Congress, NC and PDP always bowed before their Kashmiri leaders of the valley for their personal benefits and never uttered a single word against the discriminatory attitude towards Jammu during the last 60 years.
Prominent among those who also addressed the rally included Koushal Kotwal, Manjit Razdan, Pt. Faqir Chand, Prof. Kameshwar, Koushal Gupta and Narinder Singh.
