| BJP says BPEE lying on list | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 5:Dubbing chairman of the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBPEE) as a Kashmiri agent and rubbishing his ridiculous claim that the Board has been fair towards the youth of Jammu while making selections for MBBS, BDS and BVSC courses, BJP State Vice-President and spokesperson Prof. Hari Om today said that whatever the Board Chairman said the other day to justify the select lists was nothing more than a white lie. He said the Chairmen of JKBPEE has suppressed the facts to mislead the people of Jammu and cultivate his Kashmiri masters for some personal gains. Prof. Hari Om said the share of the Jammu-based aspirants, be they Hindus, Muslims or Sikhs, under the MBBS open merit category is just 33 out of a total of 125 seats. In other words, he said, their share is a paltry 26.4 per cent, and added that the share of the Muslim candidates hailing from Jammu is not even 5 per cent as far as their selection under the open merit category is concerned. Further laying bare the disparities between the falsehood as preached by the Board chairman and the actual position as far as the share of Jammu-based aspirants for BVSC (non-payment and payment seats) is concerned, Prof. Hari Om said while the share of non-Muslims in the BVSC course (non-payment seats) under open merit category is 7 (17.9 per cent) out of a total of 39 seats, it is 3 (33 per cent) out of a total of 9 (payment seats). As for the share of non-Muslims in BDS course under open category, it is 12 (24 per cent) out of a total of 50 seats, with just 2 (25 per cent) non-Muslims male candidates getting admission under the open category. Prof. Hari Om said the JKBPEE has not only ignored the claims of the non-Muslims, including Hindus, Sikhs, displaced Kashmiri Hindus and Buddhists hailing from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, as far as their selection under the open merit category is concerned, but it has also excluded the Jammu and Kargil-based Muslim candidates from the open merit lists. He said all this is enough to debunk the claims of the Board Chairman that his organization acted in a fair and impartial manner while making selections. |
