| Joint deputation of PDD calls on Power Minister | | Jora stresses for punctuality, timely completion of ongoing works | |
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11 – The Government contemplates to regularize the services of daily wagers working in Power Development Department, having 84 wage vouchers and appointment letters of the competent authorities.
This was stated by Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora here on Monday, while interacting with joint deputations of J&K Electric Employees Union, Jammu, Non-Gazetted Electric Employees Association and ITI Diploma Holders Association of the Department, who called on him for redressal of their demands.
Minister of State for Power Peer Mohammad Hussain was also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that for the purpose a nodal officer would be appointed to look into the matter adding that such daily wagers would be given one-month period for submission of their records to the department. He said for the regularization of the daily wagers the recruitment rules have been already framed by the department and assured that their other genuine demands would be also looked into.
Mr. Jora called upon the employees to work with dedication and zeal and provide good services to the people of the state. He also stressed upon them to remain punctual to their duties and accelerate their efforts for completion of various under execution works which have been taken under power sector for the upgradation of electricity facilities in the state especially in remote and rural areas.
The deputationists apprised the Minister about the problems confronting them in day to day work and presented a charter of demands which includes upgradation of existing posts, increase of promotion prospects to the ministerial staff, crash courses for head assistants, implementation of SRO 149, change of designations, inclusion of drivers for two and a half day wages and risk allowance besides they also pleaded for absorption of daily wagers against available vacancies in the department.
Among others, Principal Secretary Power Mr. Madhav Lal, Managing Director Power Mr. Shaliander Kumar, Power Development Commissioner Mr. Showkat Rashid Wani, Chief Engineer Power Kashmir Mr. Nissar Hussain, Chief Engineer System Operation Mr. Guru, and representatives of the Associations Mr. Shakti Gupta, Mr Mohammad Shafi Dar and S Jasbir Singh were also present in the meeting |
