| Rotarians elect new president | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 5: Rotary Club of Jammu city held its Installation ceremony at Amar Singh Club here today where District Governor Rotarian Dr. Vinod Sharma installed Rotarian, Mehta Adeep Singh as the new president of the club for the year 2008-09 outgoing President Rtn. Prem Shanker Singh in his welcome address he emphasized the need of serving the society in the field of education so that the poor children can see a better tomorrow.
Earlier club secretary Rtn. Harbans SIngh read out the projects being undertaken by the club this year. New President Singh informed the Governor about two projects which the club has undertaken this year; One being the irrigation facility for women farmers who will cultivate aromatic plants. This project will empower the women folk in vijaypur area and the cost of project will be Rs. 25 lakh which the Rotary Club will provide. The second project will be for the drop out students who will be provided vocational training by the club in association with confederation of Indian Industries, Polytechnic college and city and guilds. Training will be provide to 300 students and Rtn. Col. R.S Parmar will be the project Director. As this year Rotary theme says “Make Dreams Real” so every Rotarian through out the world will work for the cause of the downtrodden and needy. Governor also appealed to all Rotarians to ensure that during Pulse Polio campaign we should make a final push to eradicate this disease from the face of earth especially India where still 445 cases were reported at the end of September 2008
At this juncture new members were inducted in the club by the Governor to serve the society; Members who joined are Rtn. Balbir Singh Manhas, Rtn. J.P Singh, Rtn. Dr. Onkar Singh, Rtn.. Dr. P.P Singh, Rtn. Engineer Gurdev Singh, Rtn. Dr. Gaurav Vaid, Rtn. Kulbir Singh Salathia, Rtn. Harpal Singh. The Rotractors who pinned are Bhawani Singh, Hansmukh Singh and Hartej Singh.
Besides Presidents and office bearers of the other clubs the members present from Rotary Club Jammu City were Rtn. Adeep Singh, Rtn. Prem Shankder Singh, Rtn. Harbans Singh, Rtn. Robin Singh, Rtn. Captain Murti, Rtn. Ravinder Kaul, Rtn. R. B Khajuria, Rtn. Col. R.S Parmar, Rtn. K.C Singh Mehta. |
