| 3 J&K craftsmen presented Shilp Guru Award | | | Srinagar, September 11 – Recognizing the craftmanship of the artisans of the Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, bestowed three eminent craftsman of the state, “Shilp Guru Award” at a glittering function held at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi, the other day. The Shilp Guru Award for 2004 was awarded to Mr. Ali Mohammad Baig of Ghazi Doori, Srinagar for his contribution in Sozni craft while Mr. Mohammad Khalil Kalwal of Lal Bazaar Srinagar got the award in Wood Carving craft. Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Qazi was awarded for Carpet craft 2005. The award carries a mounted gold coin, one shawl and a citation with financial assistance of Rs. 7.50 lakh. The state was represented by Resident Commissioner, Delhi Mr. S.V. Bhave and Director Handicrafts Mr. R.A. Quadri. |
