| Jugal inspects offices of RDD Kashmir, orders action against 40 absentees | | |
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11 – Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Mr Jugal Kishore today paid a surprise visit to the various offices of the Director Rural Development Kashmir at Lal Mandi Srinagar.
During his inspection, the Minister found more than 40 officials of Directorate of Rural development Kashmir, DRDA Srinagar, District Panchayat Officers Office Srinagar, Assistant Commissioner development Srinagar, Executive Engineer (REW) and Block Development Officers office unauthorizedly absent from duty.
The Minister expressed deep concern over the functioning of these offices and directed for immediate suspension of the absentees and appointing an officer of the rank of Additional Secretary Rural Development Department as inquiry officer to enquire into the matter and submit his report within a week’s time.
The Minister also took stock of the functioning of the various offices of the Directorate Rural Development Department Kashmir and expressed his displeasure over the unpleasant functioning of these offices. He also found that no proper movement registers have been maintained in these offices by the concerned officers and asked them to maintain the same alongwith tour diaries with immediate effect to have first hand knowledge about the movements, visits and meetings of the officers and to maintain proper punctuality in these offices.
The Minister said that the government is committed to streamline the functioning of the offices and ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels of administration. He said that he has issued strict instructions to the administrative as well as field staff of Rural Development Department to work with dedication devotion and ensure close monitoring of the welfare schemes under execution under RD sector. He said that on the one hand, the government is committed to encourage the honest and dedicated officers but at the same time it will not tolerate erring and negligent officials adding that such officials have an opportunity to mend. |
