| Addl Rs 50 lakh sanctioned for completion of Wattergam WSS | | Dilawar stresses for ensuring clean drinking water supply | |
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11 –Government has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh as additionality for completion of Wattergam–Bahrampora Water Supply Scheme. An amount of Rs 32 lakh were already earmarked for the scheme under district plan. This was stated by Minister for PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, Horticulture and Tourism, Mr Mohammad Dilawar Mir while addressing a meeting of Superintending Engineers of various districts of Kashmir valley here today. Other officers of various ranks were also present in the meeting. The meeting reviewed the status of water supply to Kashmir valley in general and Rafiabad constituency in particular. The Minister directed the concerned engineers to speed up work on distribution system of Chachhama Sirpora Water Supply Scheme. He also asked them to complete work on Rohama Pargam water Supply scheme on priority basis. The Minister stressed upon the engineers to install hand pumps and tube wells in those areas where people face acute water shortage, he issued clear instructions for ensuring supply of drinking water after a proper microbiology test so that the human lives are not endangered with water borne diseases. He directed for strengthening men and machinery in PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the state. He also advocated for introduction of Computerized Data System for providing timely information about status of various schemes under PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control. |
