| Deletion of genuine voters smacks conspiracy: JSM (P) | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 6: Alleging deletion of names of the genuine voters from the electoral rolls, Prof Virender president JSM (P) and Anil Gour vice president, in a joint statement have said that the process of issuing Identity Cards and registration of the new voters has completely been stopped from July 1, 2008. No attempt had been made to issue the Identity Cards to the voters or register the fresh voters after the two month long agitation in Jammu region. In a joint statement these leaders alleged that deletion of large number of genuine voters and suspension of the exercise of registering the voters also amounts to debarring these voters from casting their votes, thus depriving them of their democratic rights. JSM (P) leaders demanded that the process of issuing the identity cards to the voters and registration of the voters whose names have wrongly been deleted along with the fresh eligible voters should be started forthwith so as to up-date the electoral rolls for the forthcoming elections. JSM leaders also took NC to task for putting a blanket ban on delimitation of constituencies and said that this attempt was aimed at curbing the genuine voice of Jammu Province. ‘This injustice done on the people of Jammu province cannot be undone unless we wage a united struggle out side the legislature’ , the JSM leaders observed and maintained that the best course for the people of Jammu province for getting their political, administrative and economic empowerment is to fight for a Separate Jammu State. We have also to thwart the attempts of Kashmiri leaders and other agencies, which are out to divide Jammu on religious lines. |
