| Housing colony turns into a commercial market | | | Sarita Jamwal
UDHAMPUR, Oct 6: One of the residential colonies in the town is fast tuning into commercial place. Couple of years before, Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board developed the colony and allotted the plots of different dimensions to the people for residential purpose but present apathy of government has turned the colony into commercial place than residential one which has irked majority of people here. People allege that due to the apathy of housing board, people are busy in making alterations of their residential houses to make these into markets which is totally illegal and against the concept of housing colonies.
Local residents of the housing colony strongly resented the on- going ever increasing menace of turning of residential building into commercial markets by violating the laws of housing board for their pity interests.
Taking to media persons, a local resident Baldev Singh said that majority of the residents of the housing colony are truing their residential buildings into commercial shops. He alleged some nexus between the vested interests and the housing board. He said that housing board was also encouraging it by truing their eyes blind towards the ongoing menace and never bothered to take action against the offenders.
The law abiding people have impressed upon the housing board to rise to the occasion and ensure that the housing colony is not turned into a commercial complex.
However, the views of the housing board could not be ascertained as none of the official was available for comments. |
