| Bhandari discusses Diwali arrangements | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 7: The district administration today held threadbare discussions at a meeting for celebration of Diwali festival in the winter capital of the state. Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, the deputy commissioner chaired the meeting. During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on preparations for the festival including proper security arrangements permission for sales of crackers by whole/retail sellers, civil defence arrangements, fire services measures, medicare and ambulance facilities. It was decided that stalls for selling the crackers would be installed at Parade Ground and Gandhi Nagar with adequate arrangements of electricity and water at both the venues. It was decided that whole sellers would be granted permission to sell crackers from October, 12 onwards while retailers will be issued permission to install their stalls from October, 20 to the day of Diwali festival. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the officers to ensure timely arrangements for the Diwali festival so that the festival is celebrated with traditional spirit and gaiety. He called for taking appropriate precautions at the venue of cracker stalls to prevent the occurrence of any mishap. |
