| PDP demands opening of Sialkote road | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 7: Cautioning party workers against malicious campaign launched by some vested interests against Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Minister and senior party leader S Rangil Singh today said that policies being propagated by his party have yielded positive results. Addressing a function at party headquarters here today in which all zonal presidents, district presidents and senior leaders were present, Singh reiterated PDP's commitment to remove regional disparities. Lambasting some political parties for taking credits of the developmental works, Singh said that it was during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayed that pace of development was accelerated and many comprehensive policies were formulated for the overall betterment of the common masses. He said that PDP is the only party which is committed for strengthening unity among all the regions of the State without any regional disparity. Party general secretary Daman Bhasin while addressing the meeting said, "after formation of coalition regime in 2002 many steps were taken to remove regional imbalances". He further said lot more needed to be done to remove backwardness of some sub-regions within the regions. Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa, in his address, pointed towards prevailing peace in border areas and gave all credit to the visionary and pro-peace polices of PDP leaders. He said a peaceful atmosphere in the state was important for both India and Pakistan. He demanded that Suchetgarh route should be developed on the pattern of Wagah border from where visitors can go across the border. He said that with the opening of this route not only trade would be flourished it would also facilitate the pilgrims who visit Nankana Sahib and other religious places on other sides of the border. Former MLA Shanti Devi and party secretary Singh also addressed the meeting. |
