Rs.17.46 crore 5 water treatment plants in progress
10/7/2008 11:25:46 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Jammu & Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) under its ongoing Asian Development Bank funded "Multi sector Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project" has taken up revamping of five major water treatment plants at Aliesteng, Doodhganga, Pokhribal, Nishat and Rangil in Srinagar city.
Augmentation of these plants would increase supply of drinking water to the people in the city. These plants, with 57.55 million gallons capacity per daily (MGD) are likely to cost Rs.17.46 crores.
This ambitious program of revamping major water treatment plants in Srinagar city would enhance the water treatment capacity, make treatment of aquatic environment friendly, reduce operation and maintenance cost of these treatment plants, provide much needed stand by arrangements for electricity to ensure that water is treated in case of power failures.
