| BJP appreciates CM’s statement on self-rule | | ’Cong should sever ties with PDP’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | SEP 11 Appreciating Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for his statement that the demand for self-rule and demilitarization of Jammu and Kashmir as put forth by the PDP is nothing but a political stunt, state BJP Vice-president and spokesperson Prof. Hari Om said that his party will always support all those steps of the government that are aimed at neutralizing the baneful influence of those who have been seeking to decline the state from India. In a statement he said the BJP would appreciate the Chief Minister all the more if he musters courage and snap ties with the PDP, which has been consistently supporting the Pakistani dubious stand on the so-called self-rule and demilitarization. He said snapping of political ties with the PDP has become even more imperative in view of the politics of blackmail the PDP has been indulging in to weaken his very constitutional authority as for as the distribution of portfolios among his minister is concerned. Hari Om, however added that the way Congress has bowed before the PDP has only sent a signal that it is not the former but the PDP, which is ruling the roost and subverting the very constitution under which the state is being governed. The BJP leader further said the PDP has been squarely responsible for polluting the state politics and promoting the cause of the fundamentalists and separatists and added that this is the time to show this party its rightful place. He warned that he expressed hope that the Chief Minister would rise to the occasion and sever his relations with the PDP even if that means the collapse of his government or midterm poll.
