| BJP to go alone in Jammu | | Jaitly says looking for alliances in Valley, Ladakh | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 7: Bhartiya Janta Party will go it alone in Jammu region and consider tie up with like minded individuals and groups who have a nationalistic outlook in the ensuing Assembly elections in Kashmir valley and Ladakh region. This was stated by BJP National general secretary, Arun Jaitley while interacting with media persons have in Jammu. He further said that the party will contest all the seats from Jammu region and will go all alone and will not have any track with any political party. But to strengthen the nationalistic forces. BJP will align with those individuals and groups in Kashmir and Ladakh region, which have a nationalistic outlook. He said they are waiting for announcement of elections by the election commission, who is on a two day visit to J&K. space for political activity, should be increased and elections are like festival of democracy. He took dig at Cong party for Double faced policy on elections in J&K as they are not coming open in favour of elections, rather they shift responsibility on election commission. Recent on Jammu agitation, he said BJP supported the agitation led by Sangarsh Samiti and thus represents the spirit of Jammu and Jammu now has become the cradle of Nationalism. We don not want division of nationalist vote and for that will contest on maximum seats and give support or adopt independents. We will fight elections on three issues, working of Cong-PDP govt during last 6 years which led to encouragement of subversive forces and discrimination with Jammu, Secondly Terrorism in Country and UPA govt surrender before terrorists and failed to counter and on economic front, there is increase in prices, inflation and interest rate. About Pakistan President, Asif Ali Zardari's recent statement in which he dubbed militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir as ‘terrorists’, the BJP leader said "even if it was a slip of tongue, Zardari has spoken the natural truth". He said it was shocking that the PDP, which shared power with the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir for over five and a half years, has criticized Zardari's statement. The Congress support to the anti-national forces and the PDP toeing the line of Kashmiri separatists were part of the vote bank politics, he added. Coming down hard on Congress and some state based political parties for opposing the elections on due time, he stressed for announcement of dates as the situation in every respect was ripe for elections across the state. "Elections in prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir is remedy to all the ills but the double face policies of congress gives an impression that it would never favor the elections on due time," he said and added that the parties opposing the elections at this time were fearing defeat. |
