International Mother's Day celebrated with poetry writing competition

Jammu, May 9: On the occasion of the celebration of “International Mother's Day with the theme “ Loved u Maa since I Opened my Eyes ”, as a part of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahautsav (Celebration of 75th Independence day), an online poetry writing competition was organized by NCC Senior Wing Cadets of GGM Science College, Jammu under the guidance of principal Ravender Tickoo and supervision of associate NCC officer Anjana Sharma.
This important occasion falls on the second Sunday of May every year a reminder to think about mothers, and mother-like figures in our life, who inspire us every day to become better people in our lives.
With a pandemic raging on nowadays, the cadets focused in their poems, the importance of their mothers in life and how much she means to all of them and also for others. They wanted to give message through their poems to the younger generations to do something special for mothers on this day.
The principal appreciated the efforts put by the cadets and the ANO to celebrate this day online to tell others that mothers are selfless, shower unconditional love on their children, and sacrifice all their needs for their families.
Balwinder Kour from the Department of Physics, GDC R.S.Pura and Gurpeet Kour, Department of Zoology, GGM Science College judged all the poems written by more than twenty NCC cadets for this event.
The first prize was bagged by cadet Manvi Pawar and second prize winners were cadet Riya Gupta and Mehak Billowria and the third prize was a tie between cadet Gurpreet Kour and Manbhi.
