Government P G College for Women Gandhi Nagar Celebrates Mother’s Day

JAMMU, May 9: To commemorate India’s Independence- Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NSS Unit of Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu celebrates “Mother’s Day” under the patronage of Dr. Sangita Nagari, Principal of the College and supervision of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Mala Bhasin.
Senior NSS volunteers- Surbi Singh, Harman Kour, Chranleen Kour, Shivali Charak, Reman Kumari and Rajni Sondhi jointly prepared a mesmerizing documentary on the theme- “Thanking the Great Mothers of India”, who have selflessly served the country in one or other way.
Another event on the theme- ‘Thanking my Heaven on the Earth” was also organised wherein NSS volunteers participated with great zeal and prepared thank you cards, made flowers, special dishes, etc for their mothers.
The Mother’s day is observed each year on second Sunday of May, to honour the immeasurable contribution of mothers, acknowledge their efforts and role in building the lives of their children. Applauding the efforts of NSS PO and Volunteers, Principal Dr Sangita Nagari impressed upon the volunteers to obey and respect their mother as she is the one who shapes their character and personality. She further added that mothers are the angel on the earth who loves their children unconditionally, teach good manners and guides them to the right path in life. She said that a mother’ s unvarying efforts, priceless love and dedication should be recognized and cherished every day, even when it is not Mother’s day.
NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Mala Bhasin thanked the volunteers for their participation and encouraged them ‘to take a pledge to make every day special for our mother and fill her days with warmth and joy.’ The documentary and collage were also posted at different social platforms.
