| From Gujarat to Jammu, its thrilling haul | | DANDIYA NIGHTS | | SANDEEP BHAT
JAMMU, Oct 8: ‘Dandiya’, a famous Gujrati dance performed during Navratra’s by the youngsters in the state of Maharashtra and Gujrat have started making in-roads in city of temples from the last of couple of years. It has been seen that the youngsters are taking party in Dandiya in a large number and enjoy it to the fullest. From the last couple of years Dandiya seem to have taken its place among Jammuites mostly youngsters and especially during Navratras, they enjoy themselves by participating in Dandiya dance. Dandiya have taken centre stage in Mumbai, Pune Delhi and many other parts of the country where it is celebrated for over a period of month. Youngsters, couples, children, ladies and almost people from all walks of life are participating in Dandiya festivals across the country during Navratras. In Mumbai, it is being celebrated every year.
Jammu too is getting familiar with dandiya festival and the participation in this dance from the last couple of years speaks about the interest of people by participating in it and is getting famous day by day. Early Times correspondent speaks to people at random on the dandiya.
Shalini a college student, said Shalini, a college student , said, I am very excited to participate in danidya dance which is being organized in Jammu from the last couple of years and among youngsters it getting famous day by day. Sunil and Radhika ( a newly a wedded couple) while talking to ET correspondent said they are going to participate in the dance festival and wants to enjoy it. Thank god, Jammu is also getting familiar with Dandiya.
Jagmeet Singh Bahri, cluster head Big 92.7 FM, who is an official partner in organizing dandiya festival in Jammu, said that from the last couple of years, we are a part of this festival and are getting enormous support and encouragement for this dance festival. People from all walks of life are participating in it will late hours and are enjoying to the fullest. It is been successful event since we started organizing it and are getting positive responses from the locals mostly youngsters and couples. We are providing good food good music and good environment for the participants.
It seems that Jammu is getting recognized not only as city of temples, but as a pilgrimage tourist spot and the events like dandiya adds the glamour and colour to it. |
