| Hoteliers want compensation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 8: Saying that the election schedule to the state assembly is likely to be announced anytime, the Jammu Hotel, Restaurant and Bar Association (JHRBA) has urged the state Governor to immediately announce compensation, relief and rehabilitation package to the tourism related industry in Jammu for making good the losses suffered during the two and a half month long Jammu agitation. At a joint meeting of Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal, Hotel, Restaurant, Bar Association and All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association held under the chairmanship of Kuldeep Wahi regretted that the promises made by the working group appointed by the Governor with the SAYSS during the agreement on land row to settle the claims of compensation and relief to the tourism related organizations have not been fulfilled so far. The meeting apprehended that once the elections to the state assembly are announced the modal code of conduct would automatically come into force making it difficult for the government to announce a package for the affected traders. The meeting unanimously urged upon the Governor to announce the package before the poll schedule is announced by the Election Commission. The meeting felt that the inordinate delay is causing concern and doubts to the aggrieved business community over the sincerity of the authorities in this regard. |
