| Hawala accused detained under PSA | | | SARITA JAMWAL UDHAMPUR, Oct 8: Hawala accused Jamali Khan has been detained under Public Safety Act for the second time. His earlier detention order under the Act was quashed by High court. According to reports Hawala accused was arrested while smuggling hawala money to the tune of Rs 50 lakhs On November 3, 2007 and was later detained under Public Safety Act by District Magistrate, Udhampur. It is pertinent to mention here that Police on specific information had recovered a CNG cylinder full of currency notes from Jamali Khan near Udhampur when he was on way to Srinagar on Nov 3 2007. During questioning, Jamali Khan had admitted that said money was given to him by one G M Bhat for its delivery to Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Reports added that accused had later challenged detention order on various technical grounds in high court and court after hearing both sides quashed previous detention order of district magistrate Udhampur on October 16 last.. The acused Jamali Khan has been detained under PSA for the second time on the grounds that accused still acts as hawala courier and is still carrying out anti-national and subversive activities by helping terrorists from inside the Jail. |
