| Rs 12 Cr earmarked for boosting irrigation facilities in Kargil | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Oct 9; Several measures are a foot to provide substantial irrigation facilities in the Ladakh region despite difficult terrain. A sizeable amount of Rs.0 crore, as NABARD loan and Rs. 2.28 Crore as State share, have been earmarked for improving these facilities in Kargil District during the current fiscal. Eight irrigation schemes have been completed in the district creating additional irrigation potential of 110 hectors. With this, the irrigation facilities is being provided to over 15000 acres of land in the district, Under Minor Irrigation sector Rs. one crore is being spent for improving of irrigation facilities in the Leh district, while a similar amount has already been utilized for execution of various schemes in the District till date. Presently 43 Km long prestigious Igoo-Phey irrigation canal is under construction in the district which is expected to provide irrigation facilities to about 4000 acres of land. So far Rs. 60 lakh have been spent on the execution of this vital canal. |
